# Add people to a campaign

> Add people from People, a list or a Radar signal, see when they start, and understand every reason someone gets skipped.

Use this page to put people in a campaign and to find out why someone didn't get in. Everyone is checked first, and nobody gets the same campaign twice.

## Add people

**1. Pick them**

In [People](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/people/overview.md), select the people you want. A campaign's **People** tab has an **Add people** button that takes you there. You can pick up to 500 at a time.

**2. Choose the campaign**

In **Add to a campaign**, choose one. Each shows whether it's running, paused or a draft. Archived campaigns aren't listed.

**3. Read the check**

The dialog says how many will be added and how many skipped. Click **why?** to see each reason with up to five names. On a very large selection it says the check covered the first part only.

**4. Confirm**

Click **Add N people**, with your number in place of N. The button is disabled if nobody would be added. A message says how many were added, with **Open campaign** to go straight to it.

![Add to a campaign dialog: 9 people will be added, 4 skipped, with the reasons open under why?](https://mintcdn.com/b2-b-signals-llc/u5yYe4FZtFc5vtD_/images/campaigns/add-people-check.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=u5yYe4FZtFc5vtD_\&q=85\&s=c90aa20f8caff519e5b2b0047bc3fad1)

The check before anything is added: who gets in, who is skipped and why, and when they start.

Large batches go in pieces. If something stops partway, the dialog says how many were added. Try again for the rest, and nobody is added twice.

## When they start

Adding people doesn't message anyone by itself. What happens next depends on the campaign's status.

| Status | When people start | What the dialog says |
| - | - | - |
| **Draft** | After you launch | "starts when you launch the campaign, a few each day at a safe pace." |
| **Paused** | After you resume | "starts when you resume the campaign, a few each day at a safe pace." |
| **Running** | Inside the campaign's schedule, up to the **New people a day** you set | The day they start, such as "starts today, a few each day at a safe pace." |
| **Archived** | They can't be added | |

For a draft or paused campaign whose **New people a day** is above 10, the line says "up to N each day" instead of "a few each day". With no limit, it says "everyone at once". Nothing is sent until the campaign runs.

Once someone starts, the campaign's approval setting decides whether a message waits for you. If the campaign approves every message or first messages and sends an invite with no note, the dialog adds "Invites without a note go out without approval." See [Approvals](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/campaigns/approvals.md).

**New people a day** is in **Settings**, under **Who gets in**. Choose 5, 10, 20, 30, 50 or 100, or no limit. Everyone joins right away and waits their turn. Start days follow the campaign's schedule. Changing the number moves those still waiting, and removing the limit starts them all. The section says how many are waiting and the day everyone has started.

## Why someone is skipped

These people aren't added. Each row is the reason the dialog shows.

| Reason | What it means | What you can do |
| - | - | - |
| **Already in this campaign** | They are already going through it, so they won't start twice. | Nothing needed |
| **In another campaign** | They are in another running campaign. A person is in one campaign at a time. | Finish or remove them there, or move them |
| **On Do not contact** | They are on your [Do not contact](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/people/do-not-contact.md) list. | Change it in **Settings**, Do not contact |
| **Their company is on Do not contact** | Their company is on the list. | Change it in **Settings**, Do not contact |
| **Waiting for your review** | Their source asks for review first, and they're still New. The dialog says: "Mark them Good fit first. The review switch is in the Radar menu (Where new people go) and in each watchlist's settings." | [Mark them Good fit](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/people/review.md), or turn review off for that source. See [Review before campaigns](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/sources/overview.md#review-before-campaigns) |
| **Already connected on LinkedIn** | The campaign sends an invite, and they're already a connection. | Use a campaign that starts with a message |
| **No name yet** | We don't have their real name. Campaigns only write to named people. | Add their name |
| **Already contacted elsewhere** | You marked them as already contacted outside this app, so they don't get a first message. | Nothing, unless the mark is wrong |
| **Sent to another tool** | They were pushed to another outreach tool recently, so we don't write to them too. | Follow them up in that tool |
| **Campaign ended** | The campaign's end date has passed. | Change **End on** in **Schedule** |
| **Works at a competitor** | Their company is on your competitors list. | Change the list if it's wrong |
| **On your own team** | Their company is your own company, or they are one of your connected accounts. | Nothing needed |
| **On this campaign's leave-out list** | They are on the list this campaign leaves out. | See **Who gets in** |
| **Already contacted from another campaign** | A message already went out to them from another campaign. | See **Who gets in** |
| **Already messaged by another sender** | Another sender already wrote to them. | See **Who gets in** |
| **This sender already wrote to them** | This campaign's sender wrote to them in another campaign. | See **Who gets in** |
| **In a country you left out** | Their country is excluded in this campaign's settings. | See **Who gets in** |
| **Rejected earlier** | They were rejected before. | Recover them first if that was a mistake |
| **Campaign archived** | This campaign is archived and takes nobody. | Unarchive it, or pick another |

### Added, but waiting

These people get in and don't go out yet:

* **Only one person per company.** With **One person per company** on, the first person at a company is written to and the others wait their turn. This is checked when a message is about to go out.
* **Over the daily number.** They wait for their start day under **New people a day**.
* **Under a fit rule.** If the campaign only takes good matches, people below it report as waiting for review.

## Choose who gets in

In **Settings**, under **Who gets in**:

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| **New people a day** | How many new people start each day |
| **One person per company** | Only the first person at a company is written to. The others wait. |
| **Keep adding people from the lists** | "New people who join a list start on their own, unless their source asks for review first (Radar does by default). Those wait until you mark them Good fit. Turn off to run only the people already here." |
| **Who joins on their own** | Under **More options**. **Everyone from the lists**, **Only good matches** (7 or higher out of 10), **Only strong matches** (8 or higher), **Only very strong matches** (9 or higher) or **Only people I marked Good fit**. |

**Leave out** rules skip matching people. Do not contact and the company blacklist always apply.

* **Already contacted in another campaign**
* **Already talking to another sender**
* **This sender already wrote to them elsewhere**
* **Everyone in this list**
* **At most this many new people per company a week**
* **Countries to leave out**

Saving a rule doesn't affect people who already started.

## Manage people already in

On the campaign's **People** tab, filter by **All**, **In progress**, **Waiting for you**, **Replied**, **Finished**, **Didn't go out** or **Removed**, and select people for these actions:

| Action | What happens |
| - | - |
| **Pause** | They keep their place and continue from the same step when you **Resume** them. |
| **Skip step** | Nothing is sent for this step and they move on to the next. You can't undo this. |
| **Remove** | They get nothing more from this campaign. Their history stays. |
| **Try again** | Retries a step that didn't go out. |
| **Change sender…** | Only for people nobody has written to yet, because a LinkedIn chat can't move between accounts. |
| **Move to another campaign…** | They leave this campaign and start at the first step of the other, or skip what they already got. What was sent stays in their history. |

**Resume**, **Try again**, **Change sender…** and **Move to another campaign…** are under **More**.
