# Radar

> How Radar finds people for you, how many it finds on each plan, where they go, and how to pause it or change its brief.

Radar finds people with a fresh reason to hear from you. It reads job posts, news and LinkedIn on its search days and compares what it finds to your brief. Use this page to read what Radar shows you and to control it.

Your **brief** is your description of who to look for, what you offer and who to leave out. Radar reads it before every search. See the [glossary](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/help/glossary.md).

To start Radar for the first time, see [Set up Radar](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/sources/radar-setup.md).

## What Radar does and doesn't do

* It finds people and adds them to **People**.
* It doesn't write to anyone.
* It doesn't put anyone in a campaign on its own, unless a route is set. See [How Radar people reach a campaign](#how-radar-people-reach-a-campaign).

> [!WARNING]
>
> Radar people wait in **To review**, because review is on by default for Radar. They stay there until you mark them. No campaign receives them on its own unless a route is set.

## How many people Radar finds

| Plan | How many | Search days |
| - | - | - |
| Trial | Up to 3 people a day, 20 in all during the trial | Every weekday |
| Free | Up to 10 people a week, 5 of them visible | Every Monday |
| Paid | Up to 25 people a day | Every weekday |
| Older paid plans | Up to 25 people a day. The monthly limit of your plan still applies | Every weekday |

These are upper limits. A search can bring fewer people, or nobody.

### How the Free week works

* The week runs Monday to Sunday, counted in UTC. In the week your trial ends, it starts when the trial ended.
* Your first search can run on any weekday. It counts inside the same 10 for that week.
* Once 10 people are found, Radar doesn't search again that week.
* People past the 5 visible ones are locked. The **Overview** tab says how many more were found this week and are waiting behind your plan, with a **See plans** link.
* They open when you upgrade.

## Radar's status

You see the status at the top of the Radar page and on the **Radar** row in **Sources**.

| Status | What it means | What to do |
| - | - | - |
| **Running** | Radar searches on its search days | Nothing |
| **First search running** | The first search is under way | Wait. People show up on the Radar page |
| **Search scheduled** | The first search has a start time. The page tells you when, such as tomorrow morning | Wait. It starts on its own |
| **Waiting to start** | Radar is in line behind other new Radars | Wait. It starts on its own, and there is nothing to resume. See [why it can wait](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/sources/radar-setup.md#why-the-first-search-can-wait) |
| **Paused** | No new searches | Press **Resume Radar**, unless the page says B2B Signals paused it |
| **Not set up** | This workspace has no Radar yet | Press **Set up Radar** |

## The Radar page

Open **Sources**, then **Open Radar**. The page has four tabs: **Overview**, **Brief**, **Where it looks** and **History**.

If your workspace has more than one Radar, the Radar page and Sources show the running one. With none running, they show the most recent.

### Overview

**Overview** shows the people found today and how this week compares with your target. If people came in today, **Review today's people** opens them.

![Radar page with status Running, 14 new people today, 16 a day this week and 72% Good fit](https://mintcdn.com/b2-b-signals-llc/u5yYe4FZtFc5vtD_/images/sources/radar-overview.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=u5yYe4FZtFc5vtD_\&q=85\&s=526bf492aa81283e8c6dc84eea47a4a3)

Radar's Overview: people found today, this week against the target, and the Good fit share. The target here is an example; yours depends on your plan.

It also shows:

* **Good fit** share: how many of the people you rated were a Good fit. Until you rate a few, it asks you to.
* **What changed this week**: what happened in your market and what Radar learned from your ratings. Radar can suggest a change to your brief here. Nothing changes until you accept it.
* The next search day. Your digest arrives when the new people do. When searches keep finding nobody, the digest part is left out. See [When searches keep finding nobody](#when-searches-keep-finding-nobody).
* **See who Radar skipped this week, and why**: people it found and left out in the last 7 days, with the reason.

**Ask about Radar** opens [Ask](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/workspace/ask.md) with Radar as the topic.

### History

**History** has two parts:

* **Brief changes** shows every change to the brief, who made it and what it did. You can restore an earlier version. A restore shows up as a new change, so you can undo it too.
* **Searches** shows what each search brought in. A day with nobody shows why. **See them** on today's row opens those people. **Show older searches** goes further back.

### Where it looks

Radar picks where to look from your brief. Someone found in two places counts once. Each kind of place shows **Most people**, **Some** or **A few**.

You don't have to change anything here. If you want to choose the places yourself:

1. Press **Change sources by hand**. It opens a week after Radar's first search. Only owners and admins can use it.
2. Turn single places on or off. Anything you turn off stays off. Radar asks before turning on anything new.
3. To hand this back, press **Let Radar decide again**.

If Radar suggests a new place, open it with **Review**, then press **Approve** or **Decline**.

A place you can't turn on shows why:

| Label | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Off · not useful for your brief** | Radar turned it off because it doesn't fit your brief |
| **Turned off by B2B Signals** | Our team turned it off |
| **Needs setup first** | It needs something connected first |
| **Not part of your Radar** | It isn't included in your Radar |
| **Not available yet** | It isn't ready to use |

## What the empty states mean

| What you see | What it means | What to do |
| - | - | - |
| **Radar isn't set up for this workspace yet** | No Radar exists here. Your other sources keep working | Press **Set up Radar**, or read the reason on screen |
| "Radar reads LinkedIn only during set hours, so your first search starts tomorrow morning." | The first search is booked for the time shown | Wait. It starts on its own |
| "Your first search is running." | The search is under way | Wait a few minutes |
| "Radar searched and found no matches for your brief yet." | The search ran and nobody passed your brief | Wait for the next search. If it keeps happening, widen your brief |
| "The first search didn't finish. Radar searches again on its next search day." | The search stopped early | Wait for the next search day |
| "Radar couldn't search LinkedIn that day: it searches only during set hours each day and none were open, so it found nobody." | The search had no open hours. This wasn't about your brief, so don't change it | Wait for the next search. Radar retries a first search once when it ended empty for this reason |
| "Radar couldn't search LinkedIn that day: it had reached its daily LinkedIn limits, so it found nobody." | Radar had used its LinkedIn searches for the day. This wasn't about your brief | Wait for the next search |
| **Nothing new while Radar is paused** | Radar is paused. The people it found before are still in People | Press **Resume Radar** |
| **Radar is waiting in line** | Radar is set up and starts by itself | Wait |
| **Radar has no brief yet** | Radar isn't set up yet | [Set up Radar](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/sources/radar-setup.md) |
| **Radar has not searched yet** | **Where it looks** fills in after the first search | Wait |
| "No searches yet. The first one appears here as soon as Radar has run." | **History** fills in after the first search | Wait |
| "Nobody was skipped in the last 7 days." | Radar left nobody out this week | Nothing |

### When searches keep finding nobody

If Radar's latest searches under your current brief all brought nobody new, **Overview** and the Radar row on **Sources** say so, with an **Edit your brief** link. It shows after at least 2 searches in a row, on at least 2 different days, in the last 21 days.

| What you see | What it means |
| - | - |
| "Radar has searched N times since a date and found people, but none matched your brief closely enough. Your brief may be too narrow." | Radar looked at people and left them all out |
| "Radar has searched N times since a date and found nobody who matches your brief. Your brief may be too narrow, or two parts of it may disagree." | Radar found nobody to look at |

Press **Edit your brief** to open the **Brief** tab. See [Change your brief](#change-your-brief).

The notice goes away once a search brings someone. Searches that couldn't read LinkedIn don't count toward it, and neither do searches under an older version of your brief. It doesn't show while Radar is paused, waiting in line or running its first search.

## Change your brief

Open the **Brief** tab. Only owners and admins can change the brief. Changes send nothing to anyone.

**1. Pick a section**

Press **Edit** on the section you want. For **What Radar watches for**, press **Change**.

**2. Make your change**

Edit the fields, then press **Save**. The change applies from the next search.

**3. Undo it if you need to**

The message after saving has an **Undo** button. Later, you can undo any change from **History**.

| Section | What it holds |
| - | - |
| **Who** | Roles, the kind of company, company size, where and language. An empty **Where** means anywhere |
| **Offer and voice** | What you offer and how your messages sound |
| **What Radar watches for** | The reasons that make someone worth finding |
| **Leave out** | Kinds of company, roles, companies, competitors, current clients and people |
| **Examples** | People you mark **Good fit** or **Not a fit**. Radar compares new people to the ones you picked. Pick people, not companies |

People already in a campaign and everyone on [Do not contact](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/people/do-not-contact.md) are always left out.

You can also ask for a change in [Ask](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/workspace/ask.md). It shows up as **Change to your brief**, with what to expect. Press **Apply**, **Ask for another change** or **Not now**.

### More options

| Option | What it does |
| - | - |
| **How close a match** | **Strict**: only people who match every part of the brief. **Balanced**: close matches and similar job titles. Recommended. **Open**: anyone near the brief, and you'll mark more as Not a fit. Applies from the next search |
| **Past customers to watch** | Upload a CSV with a name and a LinkedIn profile link for each person, up to 2 MB. When one of them starts a new job, Radar brings them to you. The people also show as the watchlist "Past customers" |
| **Website visitors** | Not available yet. See [Website visitors](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/sources/integrations.md#website-visitors) |

## Pause and resume

Only owners and admins can pause or resume Radar. Pausing doesn't change your plan, and you can undo it.

**1. Open the menu**

On the Radar page, open the **⋯** menu and press **Pause Radar**.

**2. Choose how long**

Pick **Until I resume it**, or **For one week, then it starts again on its own**.

**3. Confirm**

Press **Pause Radar**. The message that follows has an **Undo** button.

What a pause does:

* Radar stops searching. A search that hasn't started yet is canceled. One that is already running finishes.
* People it already found stay in People.
* **Campaigns keep writing to them.** Pausing Radar doesn't stop a campaign. To stop sending, pause the campaign itself.
* Your watchlists keep running.

To start again, press **Resume Radar**. Radar searches on its next search day, not right away.

If the page says **Paused by B2B Signals**, you can't resume it yourself. Contact us.

## Where new people go

Open the **⋯** menu on the Radar page and press **Where new people go**. Only owners and admins can change this. It applies to everyone Radar finds from now on, not to people it has already found.

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| **New people go to the list** | The list Radar adds new people to. A new Radar starts with its own list. Lists that belong to an agent or watchlist aren't offered here |
| **Review new people before campaigns** | On by default. Recommended while Radar is still learning your taste |

![Where new people go dialog with the list Radar people and Review new people before campaigns turned on](https://mintcdn.com/b2-b-signals-llc/u5yYe4FZtFc5vtD_/images/sources/radar-where-new-people-go.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=u5yYe4FZtFc5vtD_\&q=85\&s=91291a1ab9edea948edaccf51bf9db60)

Where new people go: the list Radar adds people to, and the review switch.

This dialog doesn't choose a campaign. It sets a list and the review switch.

## How Radar people reach a campaign

Finding someone doesn't put them in a campaign. These are the ways a Radar person gets into one.

| Route | What happens |
| - | - |
| You mark them **Good fit**, and a live campaign uses a list they're on | They join that campaign, if it takes new people. See [Add people](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/campaigns/add-people.md) |
| You set up a first campaign at signup | It runs on Radar's list and takes only people you mark **Good fit**. It adds up to 3 new people a day, one person per company per week, and each message waits for your approval. See [Approvals](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/campaigns/approvals.md) |
| You add them to a campaign by hand | They join if they're past review. See [Add people](https://docs.b2bsignals.ai/campaigns/add-people.md) |

With review on, a person in **To review** stays out of campaigns, by any route, until you mark them **Good fit**. Marking them **Good fit** is what can start messages, so check which campaigns use the list first.

If you don't have a live campaign on the list, marking someone **Good fit** sends nothing. They stay in People until you add them to a campaign.

On the Free plan, campaigns don't launch until you upgrade.
